AIRLIFT MOVIE STORY:
The  movie is based on a true incident which took place a while ago in the 1990s. Iraq wanted Kuwait to reduce oil production, to create a scarcity of oil leading to increasing oil prices, thereby helping Iraq raise more money. But Kuwait refused, leaving Iraq furious.
On August 2nd 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait (part of the first Gulf War). The Iraqi army took over the city within a few hours. The Kuwaiti royal family managed to escape to Saudi Arabia, leaving the state rudderless. The city was looted and the general population subjugated and made to suffer great tragedies in the hands of the Iraqi army.
Kuwait was home to almost 170,000 Indians including Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar), one of the most influential Kuwaiti businessmen who later saw himself as an Indian businessman. All of them had suddenly become moneyless and homeless. The Government of India, with the help of the Indian Army and Air India, initiated the heroic operation which would go down in history.
After the military aircraft faced difficulties in airspace clearances, it was decided that civilian aircraft would be used. How the Indian government with the help of Akshay Kumar, managed to survive the Iraqi invasion & airlifted over 1,70,000 Indians from Kuwait forms the remaining story.

AIRLIFT MOVIE REVIEW & RATING:
Airlift is an uplifting and entertaining edge-of-the-seat thriller and is the story of the biggest ever human evacuation in the history of mankind. The film, once again, shows us how big and powerful the India is.
While the first half marches along confidently, the second half stands on shaky ground. The characters, their relationships, interactions and transformations hold your attention, especially that of Ranjit and his relationship with Amrita.
Akshay Kumar, one of the best and most versatile actors in the Indian industry today, who seems to have delivered yet another terrific performance from this film. His body language, dialogue delivery, the intensity and pain in his eyes proves that Akshay Kumar is the best actor.
