Moin M. Junnedi is
considered to be the wonder boy as he entered the India Book of Records as the
youngest swimmer with locomotive disability. He is just a fourteen year old who
suffers from OI or osteogenesis imperfect, which is commonly known as the brittle
bone disease. This diseases result in causing easy and frequent fractures in
the person. People suffering from OI also have defective connecting tissue, so
the tissue loss and regeneration is a big issue there.
In spite of having faced
more than 200 fractures Moin won 4 Golds and 1 silver medals at the National
Swimming Championships for disabled held at different places he is awarded with
India Book of Records Certificate. He also can float on the water more than an
hour and can swim more than 250 metres. His bones are so soft a small blow may
result in to the fracture. The
Karnataka government recently recognised his achievement by honouring him on
the World Disability Day.
Both his shoulders are turned backwards and he can't eat
with his hands. He can't stand up because both his legs are weak and twisted.
Despite his physical challenge of being just one and a half feet tall, he is
followed by many, not just surrounding him wherever he goes but also on social
media and YouTube.

boy’s video here:
Kousar,
mother who takes care of everything of Moin had lost all hopes from his son
that ever he bring smiles on her face, after she came to know about his
incurable disease. But hopes blossomed in the family of Junnedi after 11 years
in the form of Umesh Kalaghatagi, a special coach for disabled. He took the
challenge of handling this exceptionally delicate boy and teaching him
swimming. It was the task nothing but making impossible into possible but
Kalaghatagi did it. It's a wonder seeing Moin swimming into water as just his
palms become active while entire body remains immobile.
Studying in 10th Class
as an external student, dedication and achievements of this boy are
motivational to the society. Although Moin's physical condition is adverse to
him but his brain compensated that as he is brilliant in study as well as
fluent in speaking English and Hindi. Moin represents Swimmers Club Belgaum and
practice in Rotary Corporation Sports Academy's swimming pool at Goaves. He has
completed Intellikidz ABACUS second level.
Moin is a die-hard Shah Rukh
Khan fan as can been seen from his Facebook profile which is flooded with SRK
pics. He has met personalities like former president APJ Abdul Kalam, CM
Siddaramaiah, BS Yeddyurappa, women and child welfare minister Umashri and many
others.
"We never
felt ever that Moin is disabled and never imagine house without him. He is a
friend, elder and motivational force to everybody in home. All this happened
thanks to his coach Umesh Kalaghatagi," his father Mushtaque Junnedi,
recently told TOI.
