TRS wins Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll by a record margin with 4.6 lakh votes

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Tuesday retained the Warangal (SC) Lok Sabha seat as its candidate Pasunoori Dayakar won by a massive margin of nearly 4.6 lakh votes.


The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party won the Warangal Lok Sabha seat in by-elections by defeating nearest rival Congress candidate by a margin of 4,59,092 votes after 22 rounds of counting here on Tuesday.


The TRS candidate Pusunoori Dayakar polled 6,15,403 votes against Congress candidate Sarvey Satyanarayana's 1,56,311 votes. The BJP-TDP combine candidate of the BJP Pagidipati Devaiah polled 1,30,178 out of the 10,34,840 votes polled.

The Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party-TDP combine were trailing behind in the second and third positions right from the first round and the victory margin was all-time high for the constituency and surpassed the margin with which Kadiyam Srihari had won in the 2014 general elections. With all the polled votes counted, the TRS has crossed its previous victory margin of 3,92,000.


TRS was leading by 2,76,497 votes at the end of the 11 rounds of counting of the Warangal by-poll. Dayakar secured 2,01,499 votes, as against Congress candidate Sarve Sathyanarayana, who polled 54,786, while BJP’s P Devaiah got 39,925 votes at the end of the sixth round of counting.



The Warangal result has strengthened the hands of TRS head and Chief Minister KCR.
