Motorola to launch Moto 360 (2nd-gen) smartwatch in India on December 1



Here's good news for all Motorola fans in the country. The company is all set to launch the second-generation of its smartwatch Moto 360 in India.The company has sent out invites for a launch event scheduled for December 1.

The invite makes it quite clear that the company will be launching the Moto 360 second-generation. As the image on the invite shows a circular dial and has the hashtag #MotoTimeHack.Lenovo-owned Motorola unveiled Moto 360 second-generation at IFA in Berlin in early September. The new Moto 360 smartwatch comes in three variants: A men's watch in two sizes, a women's version and a sports model called Moto 360 Sport.

The Motorola Moto 360 will be available in three variants that include the following

1.Men’s Variant comes in 42×11.4mm and 46×11.4mm size

2.Women’s version is 42mm that comes with a 1.37-inch display and a 360 x 325-pixel resolution 

3.The third variant is a sports model which is the bigger 46mm model that comes with a            1.56-inch display and a 360 x 330-pixel resolution. 

4.The Sports variant has been specially designed for the fitness users.



Some other changes on new 2015 Moto 360 that varies from its predecessor include the button being shifted to the 2 o’clock position. The colour options of the new Moto 360 has been changed to gold, shiny chrome and metallic black finishes. Even, the display of the smartwatch has been changed that now occupies 71.1 percent of the front face. Motorola brings some other customizations which include Live Dials. This is an amazing feature that provides you quick access to apps directly from the watch face much like the developments feature on the Apple Watch. 

Motorola Moto 360, the second generation smartwatch is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor which is paired with a 512MB of RAM. In terms of storage, the Moto 360 sports a 4GB of internal memory. The smartwatch will be backed by a 300mAh battery.  In terms of Connectivity, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. The new Moto 360 models also support wireless charging and packs accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and vibration/haptics engine.

Look-wise, the second generation Moto 360 yet features a round display similar to its preceding model. Users can customise Moto 360 using Motorola’s Moto Maker design studio. The company on a blog post said, “Customise your Moto 360 to your exact specifications like multiple case sizes, finishes, bezels, and bands using Moto Maker, our online design studio.”  

Coming to the price, as there are three variants, eventually the price for all three variants will be varied. The price for the Men’s and Women variants are expected to start from $299 (approximately Rs 20,000) while the sports variant is expected to be priced at $499 (approximately Rs 34,000).
