Shah Rukh Khan Badshah of Bollywood has been awarded with honorary doctorate from the United Kingdom's University of Edinburgh on October 15 for his philanthropic work.
The actor said he was "extremely grateful and extremely humbled" by the recognition, saying it inspired him to work harder so that he deserved it "at least in retrospect".

Shah Rukh Khan has won many National Awards including the Best Indian Citizen Award (1997), Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in the Field of Entertainment (in 2002), the Padma Shri which is India's fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India ( in 2005). He is also among the 10 recipients of the IIFA-FICCI Frames Awards for the "Most Powerful Entertainer of the Decade and the Global Entertainment and Media personality Award at FICCI Frames 2010 Excellence awards (2010).
Shahrukh Khan has been a favourite at the Filmfare Awards that are held annually in Mumbai. From hosting them to walking away with the black lady, SRK perhaps has more Filmfare awards than his contemporaries. Shahrukh won his first Filmfare way back in 1993 for Best New Comer and has continued the tradition over the years. Films like My Name Is Khan, Chak De!
