Flipkart employees acts as Spies to detect Fakes

To ensure that the products being sold by the merchants are authentic, Flipkart has deployed employees as some mystery shoppers, who'll buy the products and report the experience.

India's largest online marketplace has deployed Spies to keep a track on the merchandise being sold. Flipkart, which kicked off its 5-day discount sale on tuesday is taking precautions after stung by instaces of sellers listing out substandard products and inflating the maximum retail price. 

It has rolled out an initiative to enroll employees as mystery shoppers-those as customers- to buy products from sellers listed on the platform and report their experiences.The online marketplace has also hired a Big Four Consultancy firm.

"With rising customer concerns around fake and counterfeit products online, we have rolled out the Flipkart shopping programme where employees can act as Flipkart secret agents in identifying the Fraud sellers on their platform. This initaitive aims to ensure a good quality,uniformity of all the packages delivered to customers."

Inturn the Employees have to send in photos of the packaging,labelsand products that are delivered to them, which will be processed by the trust and security team.If the quality of the product, service and package is substandard, action will be taken against the seller, ranging from being recommended for mandatory training programmes to be delisted in extreme cases. Employees who sign up for this voluntary effort which wiill continue upto festive season, will get special offers. They will get Flipkart shopping vouchers in their effort appreciation.
